Why it gets hired

Sweeping is a compliance job before it is a tidiness job.

Mud and grit tracked from a site onto a public road is a hazard, a complaint and in many jurisdictions a breach of the construction management plan. Street sweepers also stop oil, chemicals and litter washing into waterways after rain, which reduces blockages and the localised flooding that follows them.

That is why road sweeper hire is standard on roadworks, subdivision handovers, demolition, concrete cutting and any site with heavy vehicle movements across a sealed surface.

It is also simply cheaper than labour. A sweeper covers ground no crew with shovels and blowers can match, and on a repeat schedule it stops debris accumulating in the first place.

Typical work

Where our road sweepers go.

  • Roadworks, asphalt and paving projects
  • Subdivision and estate road handover sweeps
  • Construction access roads and site entries
  • Demolition, concrete cutting and grinding clean-up
  • Car parks, logistics yards and truck hardstand
  • Post-storm and post-event street clean-ups
  • Scheduled contract sweeping for councils and contractors

Wet hire

The operator is half the result.

Anyone can drive a sweeper in a straight line. Keeping the plume down, working the gutter line properly and knowing when to water and when not to is what separates a swept road from a wet, streaked one.

Our operators have years on these machines. Take wet hire and that experience comes with the truck; take dry hire and we train your drivers before we leave site.

How wet hire works

Dry hire

Machine delivered, your driver trained, maintenance and consumables included, replacement on breakdown.

Wet hire

Machine plus experienced operator, out of hours if needed, with dust control managed on site.

Contract sweeping

A fixed schedule and fixed rate — weekly, fortnightly or monthly passes across your sites.

Common questions

Do you provide drivers for road sweeper hire?

Yes. Sweeper Rentals can provide a short or long term rental agreement on road sweepers, and also provide training and drivers. Wet hire includes an experienced operator; dry hire includes training for your own crew.

Why do councils and civil contractors use road sweepers?

Sweeping removes tracked mud, grit, litter and pollutants before they enter stormwater, which reduces blockages and flooding risk and helps satisfy construction management plan and development consent conditions.

Can I get a road sweeper at short notice?

Yes — storm and spill clean-ups are among our most common calls. Availability depends on the fleet at the time, so phone 1300 387 713 rather than emailing if the job is urgent.
